Once each year NorCal sponsors a special two-phase equitation classic for Juniors, Amateurs and Pony riders.
Each classic consists of two phases – a flat or gymnastic phase and an over fence phase. The flat phase is a prescribed pattern (provided by NorCal) performed in a dressage court 66’ x 198’. In the flat or gymnastic phase each rider is judged individually and given a numerical score based on equitation and general horsemanship. This score is added to the over-fences score for an overall total.
